NextGeneration Sustainability Benchmark 2011 officially launched
NextGeneration is an annual sustainability benchmark of the top 25 UK home builders by size. It enables investors, the government, home builders and their clients to make better investment, policy and strategy decisions to deliver more sustainable new homes. The benchmark assesses companies’ performance and commitment in social, economic and environmental sustainability. Click here for more information on the criteria.
The results of the 2011 NextGeneration Sustainability Benchmark were launched on 17th November 2011 with Andrew Stunell MP and Adam Elman from Marks and Spencer’s Plan A providing commentary on the results. The NextGeneration report "Delivering on the ground - The UK home building sector’s contribution to a sustainable future" ranks the UKs top 25 homebuilders according to their sustainability performance.
The Berkeley Group, Crest Nicholson, Willmott Dixon and Miller Homes all emerged as leaders in the 2011 benchmark, with Lend Lease and Keepmoat Group completing the top five performing companies.
NextGeneration is now welcoming new members for 2012. Please contact Natasha Moreno-Roberts with any enquiries about membership and see the Membership page for further information on benefits.

NextGeneration was launched in 2006 as an industry-driven initiative to drive best practice in sustainability into the heart of the UK’s residential development sector.
NextGeneration is a membership-based organisation, consisting of many of the UK’s largest homebuilders, overseen by a high-level Executive Committee to ensure the integrity and independence of the initiative. NextGeneration seeks to enable the industry to understand what opportunities and risks the sustainable housing agenda poses through benchmarking, networking and knowledge-sharing
NextGeneration’s 2009 benchmark assessed the top 25 UK homebuilders based on their sustainability strategy, governance and risk management and their impact on the environment and on society.
The 2010 benchmark has the theme Sustainable Communities and will seek to assess companies based upon their strategy, commitment to and delivery of sustainable communities, considering environmental, social and economic issues.
Any company with residential development activities can join NextGeneration as a member. Membership provides access to a range of services including our industry-leading benchmarks.
